star girl

     in the beginning of the story the main character Leo is introduced at th  age of twelve. Leo is about to move from Pennsylvania to Arizona which is far away from all of his family. as a goodbye farewell gift Leo`s uncle Pete gives him a necktie in hopeing that Leo will continue to collect booties like he did. when the collection is viewed in the news paper Leo receives a necktie just like the one HIS uncle gave him anonymously.
     4 years later Leo meets an interesting girl in high school who goes by the name of star girl. star girl used to be homeschooled so she stands out and is quirky. star girl is weird she dresses in sheep skin  1970 clothing. and each period of class she puts a table cloth on her desk with flowers. she dance  in the rain. she stomps in the mud. she even sings happy birthday to people shes never met before.
     after awhile people have warmed up to star girl. she doesn't sit alone at lunch anymore. she is apart of the cheerleading team. star girl even confessed that she thinks Leo's cut  in a happy birthday . star girl goes to .  game and cheers for both teams. her school lost and is shunned by her entire school blamed for their lost.
     she feels so basically  that she gets to fix it. star girl won a writing competition to regain her popularity. when she returns to school after  her great victory no one is the to congratulate her. star girl realizes she achieved nothing by trying to fit in. in the end star girl learns to be herself again at a school dance. she regains her popularity by being her self and not like others.
       this story ha  taught me that it I  better to be your self then someone who your not. trying to fit in is useless, if you stay to your true self people will respect you for who you are.
